Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) is a world-class automotive facility, producing the best-selling Toyota RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid and the Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h. Over the last five years TMMC has achieved tremendous improvements in workplace safety. Hear how a focus on safety culture not only improved safety, but also improved quality and productivity. Learn how TMMC measured safety culture and made a plan to improve, how simple activities implemented in a Lean environment can make a huge difference and how engaging the entire workforce in improving safety culture is the key.
PRESENTER:
Marc Duplessis, Senior Manager
Marc Duplessis, Senior Manager - Human Resources, is currently responsible for compensation and benefits at TMMC. Prior to that, he spent 5 years as Safety Senior Manager where he was responsible for workplace safety. Marc started at TMMC in 1998 as a production Team Member. He moved to Human Resources in 2002 and has held responsibilities in all areas of Human Resources since then. Marc graduated with a degree in Psychology from Trent University and currently lives in Elora Ontario with his wife and two children.
CO-PRESENTER:
George Wilson, Senior Manager
George Wilson, Senior Manager – Manufacturing, is currently responsible for Weld Production and Material Delivery operations in TMMC’s Woodstock Facility. He started at TMMC in 1998 as a production Team Member and during his career has worked in all three of TMMC’s Weld shops and both Stamping departments. George has a Bachelor of Arts honors degree from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University and currently lives in Cambridge with his wife and three children.
