Description
Organizations are legislated to have a safety program, but not a process improvement program. Creating an environment where safety is the culture is tough. Engaging employees to look for waste in processes is even more difficult. In this workshop you will learn how to build a safe work culture that also looks for improvement opportunities every day, everywhere; how to drive ownership back to employees for safe work habits and improvement activities; how to utilize safety walks and Gemba walks to engage employees in discussions on improvement activities; how to add ergonomics discussions into value stream mapping and how to leverage basic LEAN tools such as 5S and poka yoke (mistake proofing).

Brett Hiscock, TWI Champion and LEAN Facilitator
Brett Hiscock is the National TWI Champion and LEAN Facilitator for the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters. Prior to joining the CME in 2011, Brett spent 20 years in Manufacturing Operations roles. Positions he has held include, Production Manager for an International Furniture Company and Operations Manager for a company that manufactures Custom Therapeutic Devices. Brett is a Certified TWI Instructor and is LEAN Master Black Belt Certified. Over the past 5 years, Brett has helped more than 20 companies start their TWI journey.

Steven Hnatishin, Safety Advisor
Steven Hnatishin is a Safety Advisor for Made Safe. Prior to joining Made Safe in 2015, Steven, worked in the heavy construction field for 10 years, five of them as a Construction Safety Officer for an environmental services company which achieved COR Certification. Steven has mentored injured workers in the Red River Occupational Health and Safety Program. Steven is a Certified National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) through Manitoba Heavy Construction Association as well as being a Certified Auditor through SAFE Work Certified, and an Ergonomic Systems Specialist (ESS). Steven is currently undergoing training in the Occupational Health and Safety Certification program.
